Minister of Municipalities and Housing Inaugurates Engineering and Quality of Life Forum

Riyadh, December 17, 2024, SPA — Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail inaugurated yesterday here the Engineering and Quality of Life Forum, a two-day event held by the Saudi Council of Engineers in partnership with the Quality of Life Program.
Al-Hogail said the “forum aims to highlight the crucial intersection between engineering and quality of life”, emphasizing the role of the engineering sector in achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to create a vibrant and sustainable environment that prioritizes innovation, well-being, and economic growth.
He also underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to improving the quality of life as a fundamental pillar of Vision 2030, and emphasized the collaboration among various sectors, including engineering, economics, and social development, to achieve sustainable development.
Saudi Council of Engineers Board of Directors Chairman Ahmed Sheikh highlighted the council’s efforts to align with the Kingdom’s global leadership in engineering. The council aims to reformulate its strategy to optimize the value of engineering work, and empower engineers to drive innovation and development.
Quality of Life Program CEO Khalid Albaker presented various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to improve the quality of life, including the “Ajwad” initiative, which focuses on sustainable development and ensuring high-quality living standards.
He said within the program, significant strides have also been made in improving public parks, planting trees, and implementing local and regional development plans.
He added that the Furas platform has facilitated the signing of numerous contracts in the municipal sector, creating opportunities for engineers to contribute to sustainable urban planning.
The forum’s agenda includes panel discussions, workshops, and an exhibition showcasing innovative models that contribute to a good quality of life and sustainable infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.
